Born in a family of music lovers, Sohini Roy Chowdhury, the young talented classical vocalist started learning classical vocal at the age of six from her grandmother, Smt. Bokul SenGupta and later Ustad Sagiruddin Khan, great exponent of Indian classical music.

Later on she joined the prestigious Sangeet Research Academy, an ITC Trust, Kolkata and took lessons from Pt. A.T. Kanan, the exponent in Kirana Gharana & a legendary name in the field of Hindustani classical music.

After the demise of the maestro, she is under the training of Ustad Maskoor Ali Khan in Kheyal & Smt. Dalia Rahut, in Thumri, Dadra, Tappa & other forms of light classical music like Hori, Kajri, Sawani, Jhula, Chaiti & Bhajan. She is also trained in Nazrul Geeti, Aghomoni, Shyama Sangeet and Raag Pradhan by Sri. Biman Mukhopadhay.
